PORTLAND, MAINE BIRTHDAY

September 4th was my 64th birthday and we drove into Portland for the day.  BamBam Bakery makes the BEST gluten and dairy free chocolate cake and we ordered one to cut in half for my birthday and Denis' birthday in October. The plan was to have lunch and stroll along the harbor but we saw the Duck tour bus and decided to hop on board.

This was our first experience on the Downeast Duck Tour on Maine's famous land and sea vehicle. Our guide was interesting and pointed out the historical sights and legends along the way.  It was fun splashing into the Casco Bay and seeing the sights from the water.  We saw Longfellow's home, the working waterfront, several lighthouses, the art district and the Old Port area to name a few.

Lunch at the Duckfat restaurant was different and tasty. Their specialty is Belgian frites fried in duck fat and gelato-based shakes, paninis and salads.  We went for the frites, of course, and crab melt panini and we were not disappointed.

Thanks for stopping in to say hi and God Bless

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY - MAINE

My husband really outdid himself for my 63rd birthday.  We usually let our birthday's slip by unnoticed but he made this one very memorable.  Thank you honey.

He arranged for my brother Ken and his fiancee Kathleen to come up from Connecticut and pop out of our bedroom with a big surprise.  Hubby ordered up two lobsters for all of us, a big tub of steamers, a chocolate gluten-free cake, a present and flowers.  Yes, call me spoiled rotten.

Hubby drove 65 miles round trip for this
specialty cake at Bam Bam Bakery in
Portland, Maine

The bottle of good wine from my brother and
a heirloom cribbage board and flowers from hubby
Hubby actually wrapped my gift with a bow
and a Hallmark card - this is a big deal

Thank you to all of you who made my birthday special with a text, email, FB message or call.
