PACKING FOR ISRAEL - DETOX ALMOST FINISHED

We survived our detox and have started incorporating rice, salmon, eggs and chicken back into our diet.  No breads, pasta or carbs just yet but we feel great.  The weather in southern California has been beautiful and we've spent some time lounging around the mineral springs spa and pool.  Just lovely.
One of the few times there are no people in the pool

The water gets you wet but won't cool you down
Weather has been beautiful - I  feel bad for my friends and family back east

I found a Groupon for two detox foot baths each and a consultation by Dr. Steven Nelson.  If his name sounds familiar that because he was a featured doctor in Suzanne Summer's books.  Dr. Nelson is sought after world wide for his expertise in diagnostic evaluations and naturopathic treatments.  So when I saw a Groupon for $28 for both of us, I snapped it up.  We had our first foot bath and my water didn't change color (which is a good thing) but Denis' water turned a rusty red color.  When we go back, the doctor will have the results of our assessments and an explanation of why Denis' water changed color.  So interesting.

Today we started our initial packing for our Holy Land tour to determine if our carry-on suitcases and backpacks will hold what we need.  I'm proud to say that we can pack everything we need without using the maximum size allowed by the tour company.

Last night we were reading the information packet provided and got really excited about the places we're going to visit and the hotels we're staying at.  In the rose-red city of Petra, we'll experience the spirit of 19th Century style living without sacrificing modern comforts.  In Israel, we'll be on top of a cliff overlooking the deep blue Mediterranean on our private balcony, another hotel is located on the boardwalk of the Sea of Galilee and then six nights in a hotel in Jerusalem with breath-taking vistas, a romantic skyline and the surrounding hills of Judea.  Doesn't that sound amazing?  We've never done anything like this and I can barely contain myself.

Thanks for stopping in to say hi.

ALL KINDS OF STUFF HAPPENING

Denis has been recuperating from the flu and has recovered nicely. Thankfully, I avoided catching it by boosting my immune system and getting plenty of sleep.  I've been unable to walk my 10,000 steps a day because of heel pain. Then Denis had a nasty flareup of arthritis in his wrist which took another three days to go away.  January 2015 was not a very fun month for us especially when you top it off with Denis' losing his mom.

We did catch up with friends Hilton and Karen and Al and Wendy which was nice.  Watched the Super Bowl with Hilton, a Seattle fan.  I'm a Pats fan and was happy with the last few minutes of the game.

Feeling much better, it was time for our annual detox.  We're on our 4th day of a 8-day cleanse and looking forward to a nice bowl of rice today.  We like to detox in California because of all the mineral springs located in this area.  I lucked out and found a chiropractor adjustment with two massage sessions on Groupon for $76 for the two of us.  Great deal.  I also found a Groupon for a 30-minute foot detox for $10 each and we're going there today.

I forgot to tell you all that we're going on a tour with our friends Kurt and Diane to the Holy Land. This was a spur of the moment decision because our friends had a cancellation and a spot became available.  It's funny how things happen because I was just reading Messages from the Blessed Virgin Mary by Yasuaki Kikutani about his pilgrimage to the places where Mary was reported seen and was telling Denis how interesting it would be to visit and the next thing we know, we're going.  We're very excited about this trip and need your prayers that we'll be safe in those troubled areas.  I'm not superstitious but we are leaving on Friday the 13th.

I won't be posting on my blog while we are in Israel but will certainly share when we return.

Thanks for stopping in to say hi.
