City of Rocks State Park, NM - Sunny/windy - high 41, low 22 - winds 30-35 mph
With winds between 30-35 mph gusting up to 50 mph it was an adventure driving our 160 miles to
City of Rocks State Park. Blowing tumble weeds and dust storms didn't stop us from getting here safe and sound. Our friends, Mike and Joanne Gay, recommended we stop here and I'm so glad they did. The monolithic blocks, sculpted by the wind and water exist in only six other places in the world. Can you believe these rocks were formed by volcanic ash 34 million years ago? You can check out
their web site by clicking on this link:

We got the last pull through with electricity and water with a picture window view of the rocks for the bargain price of $14. We're keeping our fingers crossed that tomorrow's weather forecast of sunny skies with temps in the 50's and winds dying down to 5-10 mph comes true.

| The rock formations are very unusual - no two the same |

| It looks like a mountain bluebird but I'm not sure |
The weatherman was correct. This morning
the winds died down and the sun was just warm enough to take a walk through the boulders. We needed to bundle in layers but the walk was awesome. I practiced taking bird photos with the zoom lens and had some luck.
