Apache Junction

Here's the continuing story of hooking up the speakers for surround sound.  I left off yesterday's blog with Denis coming home with a Sony receiver that the guy at the store told him he needs to hook up the speakers.  Denis connected the receivers and got nothing but we did smell something burning.  Now I'm in a panic thinking "electrical fire" and Denis is thinking "it's just a short somewhere".  The short turned out to be our factory-installed GPS.  Hoping it was "just a fuse" Denis replaced the fuse and it promptly blew.  With smoke coming out of the GPS we are now mourning its death.

A work in progress
For the record, Denis has a lot of patience and can calmly work out any situation but at this point he and the GPS were fried.  He put his tools away, the receiver back in the box and this project will be put on hold until further notice.  He's not very happy with the guy at Triple E who instructed him as to which wires to cut and he'll have to wait until Monday to have a "conversation" with him.

On a happier note, it's was a beautiful day in Apache Junction and we took Superstition Mountain's Hieroglyphic Trail.  It was a easy 3.5 mile trail with exceptionally nice views.  The wildflowers were in full bloom and the colors were spectacular.  Spring has sprung!

These beautiful yellow flowers are called Brittlebush

I was going to make pizza when we got home and we stopped to buy some feta cheese, spinach and mushrooms but our plans rapidly changed when we saw Chen's Chinese Bistro.  The food was excellent, we have leftovers and there's no dishes to wash.

We got home around 6:00 and three people had stopped in while we were away.  Bob and Nancy Tracy (we met them in Palm Springs), Don and Betty from the park dropped off some speakers and
Eric and Beth Rasmussen invited us to a wine social at 7:30.

I quickly took a shower and changed into some warmer clothes and we walked over to the wine social.  We met three very nice couples from Canada and the U.S., had some wine and chatted sitting around the warm fire.  What a nice way to end the day.

Good night and God bless!
