Monument Colorado

Yesterday we both needed to do our own thing and recuperate from the ups and downs of driving here.  We each have our own way of winding down.  Denis likes to putt around outside and I like to putt around inside and this way we're not bumping into each other.

Replacing the starter

Sharon and Dave Lizotte told us how much they love their water softener and we had to get one

Installed and working beautifully - showering is a whole new experience now
When you're down to eating canned beans and steamed rice, you know it's time to go grocery shopping.   It's never a good idea to go shopping hungry and because there was no food in the fridge we decided to have lunch first.  I think I've told you before that I love diners and we spotted one just minutes from grocery store.

Our first visit to Rosie's Diner

I ordered the open faced pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy and Denis got the turkey croissant with onion rings  - The food was excellent with good size portions but we forgot to take a picture to show you

Here's Rosie's Story - Remember the "quicker picker upper"?
We walked the short nature trail at the park and got some good views of Pike's Peak.  Later, we got a knock on the door and it was friends of Tony and Mieke that we bumped into at Apache Junction and they invited us over for happy hour.

The park has a very short nature trail

Here's two places we need to visit this week

Good view of Pike's Peak from the campground

This mallard and his mate have made their home here at the park

The park is well maintained
Happy Hour with Don and Betty Schmidt
Got a lot accomplished over the last two days and we're ready to start exploring the area.
Thanks for stopping in.

  1. It is nice to relax and just putter around, recharge the batteries.
