U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY

What to do on a rainy day?  Why not visit the Air Force Academy we've been hearing so much about.  This is an active military training facility and we needed to show our driving license and have our trunk searched before being allowed to enter.  First stop was the visitors center to watch a movie, which turned out to be a recruiting film, but gave a nice overview of the academy.  What I found interesting is the qualifications needed to enter the academy, these kids are smart.  52% of those enrolling are honor roll students.  We drove the self-guided driving tour - perfect tour for a rainy day.

Entrance

Black-billed Magpie - this may be my new favorite bird
The cadets character building motto
Airplanes were scattered around the grounds
Cadet Chapel
Catholic, Jewish and Buddhist Chapel located downstairs
Protestant Chapel located upstairs
Challenge Bridge to The Heritage Trail
The Memorial Wall
The B-52 bomber has been the backbone of America's manned bomber force for more than a half a century
