60 AIN'T 20

We've been laying low the last few days here in Alabama because Denis' lower back is causing him a lot of pain.  This happens to him about once a year and it's debilitating.  He's shuffling around, moaning and groaning, using a heating pad and looks like an old man when he walks.  If it wasn't so painful, it would be funny.  I don't know if I'm having sympathy pains but my neck has been causing me trouble.  So today we went for a deep tissue massage and should feel better in the morning, hopefully.

We're getting prepared for our annual 8-day cleanse.  Yesterday I bought a NutriBullet at Walmart. You may have seen them advertised on TV.  It's different from a juicer or blender.  The NutriBullet is a nutrition extractor which pulverizes and emulsifies the food.  This morning I whipped up a smoothie with a banana, a couple of kiwi, wheat grass, ground flax and some carrot juice. Yummy! The NutriBullet came with an excellent recipe book and explains how to make a Nutriblast.  Depending on your needs, you can whip up a Nutriblast for toxic cleansing, immune booster, protein powerhouse, peachy pick-me-up, antioxidant fusion and more.

The last cleanse we did was from Integris which is a kit containing a canister of protein powder, a couple of bottles of Aloe Vera, a bottle of cleansing enzymes and a bottle of parasite killer.  For the two of us it cost almost $300.  This year we're using their method but purchased a good probiotic, protein powder and Aloe at the local health food store at half the cost.

Days 1-4 of the cleanse is just steamed veggies and days 5-8 grains are added.  Combine that with lots of water, green tea, green Nutriblasts and we have an exciting eight days.  It's really not as difficult as it sounds and there's lots of health benefits.  Wish us luck.

That's all folks!  Thanks for stopping in.

  1. So sorry to hear about Denis's back. It's not fun. Jim has a bad back and he had surgery which helped a lot. But it will never be good. Good luck with the cleanse.

  2. Back pain is not fun. have had problems for over 30 years. This year seems to be doing much better.
    No chiropractor yet.
    Hope he gets better soon.

  3. I just made quinoa with vanilla soy milk and ground flax seed. Threw in some cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. It was practically desert!

    1. Pam, that sounds good. I could have that on Day 5 of my 8-day cleanse. I'll have it for breakfast. Won't be able to add the brown sugar but everything else works. Thanks for sharing.
