HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A SMASH THE CAKE PARTY?

We've been in my son Daniel's driveway for almost two weeks now and may have over stayed our welcome.  Thankfully, we have our motor home and we all have our privacy.  We've had the opportunity to babysit a few times but really not as much as we'd like to.  Our grand daughter, Kiev, is beginning to warm up to us although she is very much a daddy's little girl.

We celebrated her baptism one weekend, then celebrated my niece's college graduation the following weekend in Rhode Island and then back to Quebec the next weekend to celebrate Kiev's first birthday.  It wasn't like birthday's back in the states.  No happy birthday song, no blowing out the candle, no cake or ice cream.  Instead Kiev got to smash the cake.  It was incredibly cute and her best friend was able to help her smash it.  I miss cake and ice cream.

Amazing how quickly they

Smashing the beautiful cake
The weather has been just terrible during our entire visit.  Chilly, damp, rainy and just plain yucky.  Both Denis and I are feeling it in our bones, remember we're used to the dry air in Arizona.  Looking forward to some sunshine and warmer weather because there's not much more we can occupy our time with indoors and we're starting to get cabin (um, coach) fever.

Thanks for stopping in to say hi.

  1. Kathy and were both qualified Cake Decorators as a side hobby. When parents ordered a Smash Cake they usually ordered a cake for the quests to enjoy as well. Like you said "it's a shame to destroy such a beautiful cake" but look what happens to "Wedding Cakes".
Looks like you'll have to find some hidden sights that you've never seen in order to get rid of the Cabin Fever.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.
