HOLLAND, MICHIGAN SURPRISES

We've been staying at Bear Cave RV Campground an Encore Thousand Trail Park in Buchanan, Michigan.  Nice quiet, grassy park with a cave we've not been able to see due to flooding.  However, about an hour away is Holland and it was filled with wonderful surprises.  Thanks to a Lewis & Clark member letting us know about it, we've enjoyed touring the area.

Yesterday was the start of their Tulip Festival and the blossoms were in full bloom,  This is not always the case, last year they referred to it as a Stem Fest.  But the weather conditions this year were perfect and the tulips were amazing.  We're talking hundred of thousands of tulips scattered in various parks and areas of downtown Holland.

We were hoping to take the trolley tour but the line was hours long and the wait between trolley's wasn't very efficient.  We opted to walk and walk we did with over 12,000 steps racked up over the day.  We went to the Holland Museum, Windmill Island Gardens, Cappon & Settlers House, Tulip Lanes, the Historic District and, of course, the vendors selling their wares.

We tasted a bit of Dutch food including split pea soup, caraway bread, Gouda cheese and a dessert like fried dumpling with apple inside.

Thanks for stopping in to say hi.
