CALIFORNIA WITH FRIENDS

Left by car to visit our friends Kurt & Diane and stayed with them a couple of nights.  One of those nights we went to see the Jersey Boys at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.  Before the show we went to dinner at Maggiano's.  I love going out to dinner with Diane because we like the same foods and can split an entree and feel completely satisfied.  This night was no exception with roasted beet salad and grilled salmon with crab and asparagus sauce. The show and dinner was fabulous.

Denis and I took a beautiful walk along the shores of Laguna Beach and we attended mass at the Mission San Juan Capistrano.  The mission is a 1776 National Shrine.

Yesterday we took a 5 hour drive to Cayucos to stay at their friend's beach house for a few nights.  The beach house is just across the street from the ocean and just a lovely place.

Today our tour director, Diane, planned a lovely day for us.  So after our breakfast, green smoothie, Eccentrics workout, Yoga with Adrienne and a long walk, we headed out for lunch at the Dutchman.  We had a table overlooking the Morro Bay with a view of Morro Rock and watched the otters sunning on their backs.  My lunch was the best ever fresh caught grilled rock fish over rice - delicious.

We found a great farmers market and bought fresh baked sourdough bread, lavender tea, Flying Pig fresh ground coffee, just picked mandarins and grapefruit.  Guess what we're having for dinner tonight.

Last stop was Morro Bay State Park which was closed due to renovations but the museum was open and we found it very interesting.

It was a fun-filled day but I couldn't wait to get back for a cup of hot lavender tea and Diane looked forward to a glass of wine.
