Last Day at Colorado National Monument

Took a nice ride along Rim Rock Drive to take in some of the spectacular views along the rim of the canyon.  We saw the views of Independence Monument, Grand View, Monument Canyon View, Artists Point and Coke Ovens Overlook.   We walked along Window Rock and Canyon Rim Trails.

Early founder, John Otto, over one hundred years ago said "these canyons feel like the heart of the world to me"

If you look closely, you'll see people climbing to the top

Denis saw this tunnel built by the CCC and I knew we were going in - thankfully, no bats or wild animals

It was a comfortably warm day with blue sunny skies.  It was so nice that when we got back to the campground we put out our gravity chairs and took a nap.  We haven't done THAT in a very long time.

For dinner, Denis fired up the grill and made captains cut cod and refried potatoes while I sauteed sweet onion with cabbage and vinegar.   What a yummy way to end a beautiful day.

Tomorrow morning we'll be packing up and moving on.

Thanks for stopping in.

    1. Yeah, I guess I'm starting to lose it when I start drooling over photos of your plate of food.
