Yesterday morning we left the beautiful Tetons and drove about 25 miles to Yellowstone's South Entrance. Rather than go directly to the campground, we decided to stop at the Old Faithful visitor center, get our passport stamped and watch Old Faithful erupt. We had plenty of time to walk along the boardwalk and see geyers of all different kinds. We saw Anemone Geyers that pool, overflow, bubble and erupt six feet or more, Plume Geyers that erupt every hour or so in 3-5 bursts that reach heights of 25 feet, Beehive Geyers that project a powerful water column 150-200 feet in height and we saw pools, basins, springs. It was all new, amazing, beautiful and interesting. We loved it.

You are in for a wonderful wonderful experience in Yellowstone. Hope you get to see some bears but they are getting harder and harder to find.
ReplyDeleteStill no bear sighting but we've got a few more days.
DeleteWe prefer Yosemite!! Yellowstone seemed like it moved too much. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteYellowstone is huge and lots of people. We're going back to Yosemite because first visit was rushed.
