KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK, ALASKA

This morning we said our goodbyes to Gail and Jean before hitting the road.  We drove along the scenic Sterling Highway (Alaska Route 1) to the Seward Highway.  It really is a scenic route and the views were just beautiful.  The glacier lakes were like glass and the reflections were awesome.

The reflection on the lake was beautiful

I like the wetlands for bird watching with my binoculars
We want to see as many National Parks as possible and the Kenai Fjords National Park was just 8.4 miles off the Seward Highway.  We stopped for information and a trail map at the Exit Glacier Nature Center.

Exit Glacier is 2.4 miles long and descends some 3,500 feet from the Harding Icefield.  We walked about 45 minutes to the edge of the glacier and the cold wind coming off the glacier was refreshing. You can hike to the Harding Icefields which is a 4.1 mile one-way strenuous hike but time didn't permit us to do that.

Photos don't really capture the size of the glacier

We wanted to be sure to find a site at the Waterfront Park Municipal Campground in the City of Seward before it filled.  We were very fortunate to find a site facing Resurrection Bay with views of glaciers on the mountains in the Chugach National Forest.  Another picture window perfect view for only $15 per night.  There's a lot of activity on the water with fishing and tour boats going back and forth.  Right along the shore is a paved biking/walking trail that is also very busy.  Instead of watching TV tonight I think I'll just sit and watch the passers-bys.

Plenty of room for us to pull into the visitor center

Mural at visitor's center - the detail in the painting was excellent

View from our window - bug splats and all

That's all folks!  Thanks for stopping in.

  1. Well, I can't get your e-mail address to come up. I have a picture I want to send you of our surge guard that we got on Amazon. I'll try again in the morning. The wind is really blowing here and maybe that's interfering with my signal which is iffy to begin with.

    1. I wonder why my email doesn't come up. What happens? Do any blogger techs know how to fix this?

  3. Still no luck with your e-mail address. So if you'll send me an e-mail at sdjdixon@gmail then I'll send you the info on the surge guard. However, I wouldn't be surprised if you already have a built in surge guard in your motorhome. Might want to check your manuals on that.

    1. Denis seems to think we may have this built in. He's going to check it out. Thanks for your help.

  4. It would also be called an EMS - I think it stands for electrical management system.
