LAST DAY AT DENALI NATIONAL PARK

We were lazy this morning and took our time getting to the park.  First we went to the Wilderness Access Center and watched the film Across Time and Tundra then to the Murie Science and Learning Center and watched another film about the history of the park.  We had lunch at the Morino Grill before we caught the free shuttle 12-miles to Savage River.

We were both a little sore from our hike yesterday and the Tundra Loop Trail was an easy trail through alpine tundra with views of Denali, the Alaska Range and the Thorofare River.  We didn't see Denali because it was fogged in but it was a beautiful day, almost too warm.  When we finished our hike, we starting walking down the road and flagged down the next shuttle bus for a ride back to the visitors center.

The Park Ranger told us that when this flower blooms it is an indication that the summer is almost over - they also believe
that when the top of the fireweed is in bloom, summer is over

We got back to the coach around 6:30 and drove a couple of miles down the road to a turn out for the night.

I forgot to mention that our coach battery is basically dead and has been for almost a week. We need to turn on the generator in order to jump start the battery.  Tomorrow we're heading to Fairbanks and the closest Sears about 120 miles down the road.

That's all folks!  Thanks for stopping in.
