We drove 177 miles yesterday and pulled into a turnout just outside of Smithers, BC for the night. We've had a fantastic Alaska tour over the last two months but we are both ready to slow it down and take a vacation. We're anxious to get back down to the lower 48, put out our gravity chairs near a beach and just relax.
This morning we woke early and headed to the visitor's center in Smithers to tap into their internet and catch up on business.

Okay, what's all this got to do with the RV motto you ask? Well, we drove a little further into Burns Lake traveling very slowly through town and Denis says that our car just unhitched. We pulled over to find our car. The car crashed into the side of a little cafe. Thankfully, no one was hurt and not too much damage to the building. Our crash was big news in this little town and everyone was taking pictures and talking about it. Fortunately, the police handled the situation very efficiently, our car could be driven a short distance to an auto body shop, our coach is parked across the street from the visitor's center in the College of New Caledonia parking lot and everything we need is within walking distance. The insurance company has been notified and now it's just a waiting game.

| The bumper, coach and hitch are just fine - where's the car? |
 |
| Oh, here it is - by the way, the brake buddy worked just like it's supposed to |

| Our poor 2006 Saturn doesn't look so good anymore and it was all paid off - boo hoo! |
We're both tired from our unexpected day so we ordered up a couple of Subway grinders and that's it for tonight.
That's all folks! Thanks for stopping in.
We know what you mean about expecting the unexpected when the lock on the hitch failed today and dropped the trailer on the back of the truck. Be Safe and Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
Oh no - so sorry about your car. Any idea what happened to make it come apart like that? Best news - nobody got hurt.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the fault of the tow bar this time. The welded steel factory plate just sheared off. I guess we have too many towed miles and the Alaska roads just put it over the top.
DeleteOoppss, at least nobody was hurt. Hopefully you can get back on the road soon. Hit the beaches will be good for you.
ReplyDeleteDo sorry this happened. I do hope the insurance gets sorted ASAP. Once way south of Acapulco our toad became half unhitched and created us lots of misery. We send our mental support.
