Yesterday was a perfect day to visit the zoo, sun shining, not too warm with a light breeze. We had no problem finding a parking place for the coach and toad in their huge parking lot. Denis had already purchased our tickets at a discount and we walked right in. We visited the zoo with our daughter about 20 years ago and it was so hot we couldn't enjoy ourselves but today, like I said, was perfect.
We boarded the narrated tour bus that took us around the parameter of the park. It was a nice way to get familiar with the layout and learn a few tidbits from the guide. After the tour we walked for hours and saw most of the animals before it was closing time. Our favorites were the apes, tiger and the giant pandas. It really is an exceptional park. The keepers and volunteers do a wonderful job caring for the animals. I like how eco-conscience they and how they grow much of the food the animals eat.

| These two guys were fun to watch - they really know how to relax |
 |
| This is one of the smaller female apes - you have to admire their strength |
We were tempted to stop and eat some of the junk food offered around the park but we didn't give in. Instead went back to the coach and had a nice healthy lunch. That saved us money too.

| This tiger was huge and loved gnawing on the bone - look at the size of those paws |
 |
| The polar bears were both sleeping but this guy lifted up his head for a photo |
I hope you enjoy the zoo photos. I choose the best shots to share with you all.

| Caught this Wolf's Guenon (The Tree Scrambler) biting his foot - he's from South Africa Congo River |
 |
| Wonder who styles his hair |
We had a full day of walking and it was so much fun. I can't believe how much we missed when we were here 20 years ago. I saved the best pictures for last. Our favorite, the giant pandas. Mama, Bai Yun, was born in 1991 and has had six cubs in captivity. She is the oldest giant panda to give birth.

Leaving California and heading to Yuma, Arizona to meet up with Tony and Mieke.
That's all folks! Thanks for stopping in.
Love the San Diego Zoo and all of the downtown area there, such a pretty place. Travel safe, Maybe stop at the free hot springs there near Holtville California. Love it there.
