THE PACE SLOWS HERE ... AAHH

Today we had the body work done on our car.  We got the work done for half of what it would have cost in the states and they did a excellent job.  Tony had body work done on his car too.

We all walked into town hoping the ice cream store was open and it wasn't.  So we walked back along the beach.

The Colorado River Association has land that people can purchase and build these colorful homes

I love the colors and creative wall paintings on some of these homes

In town they have these buildings for hot showers and toilet - no we didn't go in
Most of our afternoon was spent on the beach.  Denis listened to music and I'm caught up in a good book.  I still can't get used to the pack of dogs that roam the beach.  Thankfully, they're not aggressive but they come around looking for food and can be a little intimidating.

I like watching the comings and goings on the beach.  The fishing boats are brought in and out of the water by pickup trucks.  People are always driving up and down the beach in their jeeps, quads or trucks.  We were the only ones out there with our beach towels, chairs and cooler.  So we were surprised when two Mexican women showed up with handmade bracelets, hammocks and dresses asking us if we wanted to buy something.

Yesterday we bought another kilo of shrimp for $15 and a kilo of some kind of white fish for $5.  For dinner tonight, I had the guys dredge the fish fillets in egg and Panko (Japanese bread crumbs) and fry them up in some coconut oil.   Mieke made a rice dish and I steamed some fresh green beans.  Add a glass of wine and we all had a very nice meal.

Happy chefs

Eating good food with good friends

We sat outside, like we did last night, watching the beautiful sunset and waiting for the stars to light up the sky.

That's all folks!  Thanks for stopping in.

  1. Definitely appears that you are enjoying the slow pace of life. That's neat that the repairs cost so much less.

  2. Sure do love the lifestyle in Mexico, keep heading south along the coast and really explore the small towns and local people, so much fun and great weather all winter.

    1. We'd like to travel south maybe another time. We didn't take out the full car insurance because we're only here for two weeks and staying in the park. I think to drive further south we'd need full insurance and devote a few months.
