El Golfo de Santa Clara, Sonora Mexico - Temps mid-80's and windy
Took a walk along the beach and a walk into town today. The beach sand is soft and great for walking, however, no one rakes the beach and it tends to have a lot of trash that washes in. It's sad for me to see the packs of dogs. I was warned ahead of time not to feed or try to pet them and I wouldn't want to because they are so dirty. Thankfully, they're not skinny like I thought they might be. El Golfo is a small fishing village and the boats line up along the beach waiting for high tide.

| This is a typical storefront - I'm going back to purchase an El Golfo t-shirt |
 |
| The children wear uniforms to school and they come to the fence hoping the tourists will give them school supplies, candy or money - Tourists used to donate to the school but the teachers would sell the supplies instead of give them to the children |

| The building may not look like much but the paintings are beautiful |
For lunch we sauteed half a kilo of shrimp in coconut oil and garlic. They were melt-in-your-mouth tender. Tony made us bloody caesars and they tasted mighty good with the shrimp, grape tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, chili lemon peanuts and pickled garlic. Sounds like a weird combination, doesn't it?
 |
| Next time I'll cook up the entire kilo of shrimp |
Then we enjoyed the sunshine in our gravity chairs for a short while before it was time for the Tequila Sunset Party. This gave us an opportunity to meet people from the park and drink Tequila Sunsets for a dollar each. I know they're usually called Tequila Sunrises but we were all their to watch the sunset from the patio. At sunset, one of the members blows a conch shell. This is a tradition brought over from Key West.

| Lovely pool and clubhouse |

| Just a bunch of party animals |

| Conch shell blower makes a nice sound and everyone looks forward to hearing it |
Some of the people at the party have basically relocated to Mexico and call themselves ex-pats. Very interesting to hear different takes on the future of the United States. Other people have moved to Mexico because they just cannot afford to live in the USA.
That's all folks! Thanks for stopping in.
Really love Mexico , the people, the simple life and especially the fresh seafood, awesome!
