What a disappointment! Our son's, Daniel, flight was supposed to leave Quebec this morning and it was cancelled. It wasn't postponed, it was cancelled due to high winds. He waited in line for hours only to learn that he wouldn't be able to get a flight out until Christmas day. Just the drive back and forth to the airport was a nightmare because of the ice and snow. Too bad he's going to miss Christmas dinner with us. Maybe they'll let us fix a plate for him.
Yesterday when we set up, Denis discovered that one of the storage bays was frozen shut. The lock was broken and no way was it going to open. Today, Eric and Beth Rasmussen showed up and while we were at church, Eric figured out how to open the latch from underneath. What a surprise! Too bad Denis cut the rubber hinge before we left for church thinking he could get the door open that way but it didn't work out. So even though Eric got the bay door open, now they had to replace the rubber hinge. Never a dull moment.
On a happier note, have you heard the legend of the snowflake? It goes like this. Long ago, a gleaming star led the way to a child born in a manger. Today it is believed that snowflakes are little pieces of that special star that lead us to The Light of the World, Jesus.

I'm so sorry about your son not getting his flight. That is a major disappointment. I'm sure they would let you take a plate for him. And then you can really celebrate. Our son and his wife are getting on a flight to go be with her Mom for Christmas. Hoping next year they can be with us.
ReplyDeleteSuch a bummer, hope he gets there safely whenever he can make it.
ReplyDeleteYes Snoopy and Woodstock are absolutely right. Merry Christmas to you guys too.
ReplyDeleteThis time of the year it is rough for people to fly anyway. As long as your son is safe and sound, I am sure there will be more Holidays you guys can celebrate.
