A WONDERFUL AFTERNOON TOGETHER

Temperatures were record breaking in Phoenix reaching 90F.  That didn't stop us from putting on shorts, t-shirt and hat to spend the day outside.  We visited Montezuma Well which is a detached unit of the Montezuma Castle National Monument.  It's a blue-green limestone sink that measures more than 400 feet across and supplied irrigation water to the prehistoric people.  We walked the loop twice so we could get in a mile which including some stairs.

Look beautiful but it's filled with thousands of leeches

A nice guy from England offered to take this photo

We worked up a good sweat and wanted to stop for an ice cream in Historic Camp Verde before heading home.  The town isn't very historical looking but we did spot an archaeological museum that looked interesting and stopped in.  The lady, Diane, was an archaeologist enthusiast and was very excited that we were willing to listen to her exploits.  She made those old arrowheads, pottery and other artifacts all come alive.

Outside the museum - this cowboy statue caught our eye
We stopped at Fort Verde State Historical Park for a quick peek at the barracks and surrounding area.

This place looked interesting on the outside and it was, so was the strange man working there

Crammed with stuff including saddles, cowboy boots and a huge selection of old salt & pepper shakers
We did finally manage to get our ice cream before heading home to make dinner.

Thanks for stopping in to say HI
