It was an early start and a long day but we managed to see three National Parks - Walnut Canyon, Wupatki and Sunset Crater Volcano.
Sunset Crater Volcano erupted sometime between 1040 and 1100. More than 900 years later, vegetation is slowing returning. This 1,000-foot-high volcano is the most recent in a six-million-year history of volcanic activity in the Flagstaff area. We learned that this cinder cone is part of the 600 hills and mountains in the San Francisco volcanic field.

Wupatki Pueblo was built and occupied during the 1100s. The remains of masonry pueblos tell their story of when the Puebloan peoples came together to build a vast farming community.
Walnut Canyon's cliff dwellings were built between 1125 and 1250. The inhabitants took advantage of natural recesses in the limestone walls.

It was a long day we needed to stop for lunch and this time I remembered to check with Yelp. The Corner Cafe had four and a half stars with great reviews. The French dip on sourdough bread was perfect and Denis enjoyed his turkey with Swiss.
Thanks for stopping in and as always I enjoy hearing from you.
Just keep right on having too much fun there.
