My poor husband flew back from his mom's funeral from the east coast to the west coast and was both physically and emotionally exhausted. That night he had a fever and all the flu symptoms. Unfortunately, he's been sick for the last ten days and is just starting to feel better although that nasty cough is lingering.
Even though he wasn't feeling very well, on January 13, our wedding anniversary, we went to morning mass and renewed our wedding vows. It was a nice celebration of our commitment and love for each other.

| Time for a nice breakfast |
A couple of days later, Denis felt well enough to make the drive to Quartzsite. We've never been there when the big event takes place and we were looking forward to it. It's amazing to see thousands of RVers scattered all over the desert on BLM land. Although we prefer full hookups, it's quite an experience to be out in the desert conserving water, using solar panels with generator backup and taking part in the activities. Because we were newbies at this, it took us a while to learn about all the seminars that take place. We attended a beginners ham radio seminar and another seminar on how to cook in and care for cast iron cooking pots. We were just getting the hang of where everything is located when it was time for us to leave because our holding tanks were full, fresh water was dry and we were looking forward to the luxury of electricity and washing our clothes. It was nice to bump into friends while we were there. I love the way everyone circles their motor homes like wagon trains and build a campfire in the center for enjoying the evenings.

On our last day, we went to the Quartzsite Yacht Club for lunch with friends Larry and Gail Rasmussen, Randy and Sherry Cederlind, and Virgil & Karen Werner.
Thanks for stopping in to say hi.
Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to Quartzsite and sounds like you had fun. I know we always do. A month is the desert is what we usually do, wander about enjoy the solitude and weather. Never have done seminars though, a few jam sessions were fun. And some free meals at La Mesa. Hope to got to the Oasis Bookstore that is an experience all in itself.
We missed you and wished you had been there to show us the ropes. Like where to dump and get fresh water. When we first arrived, we stayed at mile marker 112 but later moved to where our friends were staying at mile marker 99. Glad we moved to 99 because that's where a lot of seminars were taking place. And yes we met the man from the bookstore, what a character.
Deletedid you get some solar?
ReplyDeleteYes, we got two panels installed by Discount Solar. Denis put in four brand new batteries and bought one of those battery fillers which now he cannot live without.
DeleteGlad to hear that Denis has recovered. Stress and being in an enclosed plane cabin that recirculates the cabin air are great contributors to whatever he came down with.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on renewing your vows and may you see many more anniversaries.
Kathy and I are planning on attending the Quartzsite gathering are least one time through our winter getaway but that is still a few years away for us. Glad you enjoyed the experience and visiting with friends.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Nice to hear from you. Maybe next year all us bloggers can meet up at the Q for the blogger-fest. That would be so much fun.
DeleteSure wish you were going to be here for our Blogger-fest this Saturday. Q is definitely an experience.
ReplyDeleteI very much wanted to attend the blogger-fest but we made dental appointments in Mexico and had to get back for those. Maybe I can talk Denis into driving me back on Saturday in the car just to meet you all. What time and where is it going to be?
