It Got Me

I thought for sure I'd escaped from that nasty "bug" that Denis and so many others caught.  I did everything I'm supposed to.  I ate healthy foods, got plenty of sleep, washed my hands, kept my hands away from my face, etc.  But it got me.  Fortunately, it's not the flu, just a common cold.  Typically, I don't do well under stress or anxiety and the last few days have been a roller coaster ride (and not the fun kind either).

I received a call from the Soldier's Home and they have a bed in assisted living for dad.  It was like a kick in the stomach (even though I knew it was coming).  Ken and I had 48 hours to prepare dad for today's move.  Thankfully, dad didn't fight us on this and had a good attitude (which, if you know my dad, is very unusual).   This was a difficult decision to make and I've become attached to all his care givers.  Sharon, Josie and Anne Marie have been wonderful people and have been with us all through mom's cancer and then with dad.  Yesterday I cried with each one of them.  They have all reassured me that this is absolutely the right decision and dad should do very well there.

I bought a whole free-range chicken yesterday and made Sharon Lizotte's chicken veggie soup recipe.  It's not as good as hers but sure is plenty nutritious with all that garlic, onion and cabbage.  They say chicken soup is good for the soul.  I sure hope so.
