FISHING ON THE KENAI RIVER

I'm going to make this fish story a short one because it's late and right arm feels like a lead weight. We stood out on the fishing pier in Sodotna for about five hours of serious casting.  The plan was to drag and snag at least one red salmon, the limit is six.  I watched other people's techniques and think I was doing pretty good, unfortunately, we didn't catch one live fish.  I say LIVE because I caught fish carcasses and so did Denis.  It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed ourselves BUT it really would have been nice to catch at least one, so I'm a little disappointed.  I must tell you that all the time we were there, we only say two people catch a fish on our side of the river and maybe another two on the opposite side. That makes me feel a little better.

Fishing on the Fishwalk along the Kenai River

This was my favorite fishing spot

Lucky me, snagging another salmon carcass
I think the best part of the day was getting back to Gail's, having a cold beer and meeting two of her friends that pulled in with their camper.  Her daughter, Shannon, came over and we all enjoyed an absolutely delicious spaghetti dinner with Gail's world famous spaghetti sauce.  For some strange reason shortly after dinner I could barely keep my eyes open.

That's all folks!  Thanks for stopping in.

  1. Isn't Alaska breathtaking!!! We just did this trip in April and May and it's exciting to see you enjoying the same beautiful areas we visited. Our son, Drew, lives in Kenai and works as a brewer at Kassick's Kenai Brewstop where they brew award-winning Alaskan beer. You all should drop in for a pint and tell him I sent you!!
